The Fairfax County is using RFID warehouse management.
The Fairfax County Department of Emergency Management and Security coordinates the following: Emergency mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery services to the residents of Fairfax County. This is done with the appropriate Fairfax County agencies and external partners. This typically occurs in our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and efforts are guided by the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). The plan is reviewed annually and updated every four years. Through outreach, our office encourages residents to become more resilient to ensure they are prepared for emergencies. We also manage the public alert and warning systems for Fairfax County. Namely Fairfax Alerts to ensure residents are informed during an emergency.
Provide Local, Regional, State and National Emergency Management Leadership
Provide vision, direction and subject matter expertise in the field of emergency management to heighten our state of emergency readiness. We provide proactive leadership in facilitating and coordinating a regional approach to emergency management.
Enhance Emergency Response Coordination
Coordinate and implement a wide range of activities to ensure an adequate and timely response to significant emergency events. In the event of a major emergency, OEM activates and manages the county’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC). When activated, the EOC becomes the coordination point from which all emergency planning, resource management and continuity of operations activities are accomplished.
The Fairfax County Department of Emergency Management and Security is using RFID warehouse management. This is accomplished with the IntelliView inventory and asset tracking solution from Silent Partner Technologies. They utilize the inventory and asset tracking solution to track capital assets. They also track various non-capital assets that are integral to the day to day operations. The inventory and asset tracking solution is used to track “consumables” such as pallets of water which are sent out to disaster recovery locations.
This is done primarily for reorder purposes but also so they know definitively that the items made it to the specified location(s). The solution fills in all the blanks, the who, the what, the when and the where! All data is captured and can be viewed in any manner and as granular as the end user desires. They also use the inventory and asset tracking solution to issue items to personnel via the check in/out system. All of the above streamlining allows a significant cost savings in man hours through real time tracking and visibility! The above solution is what encompasses the RFID warehouse management.
